Avalanches are the leading cause of snowmobile fatalities. Before heading out, it’s crucial to educate yourself on avalanche terrain, hazard triggers, and essential safety techniques. The Avalanche Awareness Program is completely FREE and educates you on avalanche types, basic slab mechanics, terrain route selection, and more—all created to maintain your safety before planning your trip. This is the first of two presentations and must be completed before attending the second. It’s important to understand avalanche types, terrain, weather, and visibility to be better prepared in case of an accident.

This course prepares you for the adventure. It’s a progression from the previous course, teaching you the fundamentals of available support tools, avalanche and snow climates, common rescue mistakes, and rendering first aid.
